Sunset as we approach Dakar

I was reminded of another sunset in Africa, a few years ago.

First night in Harare, Zimbabwe

Dakar

It looked quite a bit different on the night time road from the airport to the hotel. It was dark when we cleared the airport. For some reason we had to run our bags through an inoperative x-ray machine before leaving. We were glad to find a driver and a shuttle for the Sofitel waiting. After declining several hundred offers to buy sim chips and phone cards at the airport we made our way to the hotel in the back of a battered mini-bus. Some culture shock on the drive to the hotel, and some more when we were back in a western bubble at the hotel. After checking in, we had a drink at the bar, uploaded these pics and retired. There were many professionals in the bar.
