Dive Day 1

After some SF touring and fortified with a fine salmon repast the night before, my brother checked the family out of their hotel and traveled north for their next California coastal stay - Sea Ranch. I was a few hours behind. We were targeting a +2 foot low tide at 5 PM, but our hopes for a late afternoon Ab dive were tempered by the e-mail forecast of our local guide:

Seems like PacificWaverider and my website Wetsand are not here. Like the weatherman predicting sun during a rainstorm. Mornings are good, afternoons are dangerous.

Really? How could it be that bad? PacificWaverider says 2 foot swells north and south. Makes no sense. We'll just have to play it by ear. - mw

Was down in your neck of our local woods at 4:00 today. Not diveable, no way. Rough and quite windy.
After the drive it was a bit of a scramble getting the family checked in, getting the equipment checked out, getting to Jay Bakers to rent Harlan a wet suit and get out to the cove. But we did.

Equipment Check

The cove was calm and clear. An easy call.

Harlan descends

MW descends

And Harlan is back into the water armed with ab iron (for the first time in three years)

And out of the water after a fun first dive

Got Two

A great start to the weekend
